Okay the key fob beep may not rank high on the noise pollution list, but it’s still noise pollution, and still an irritation.
Most all cars manufactured today include a key fob that will lock and unlock the doors. By default, the key fob will beep the horn every time you press it.
This can be very annoying as you walk through parking lots listening to a beep here a beep there … a beep everywhere. It’s more than annoying when people press the key fob just as you’re walking right next to their car. I think some people actually enjoy startling you.
Topping the list is the neighbor who comes and goes at all hours of the night. For many people the key fob beep is just enough to wake us up. A good way to ruin a great nights sleep.
The most interesting part to all this is that the key fobs are programmable, and don’t have to beep the horn. But most people don’t know this because they haven’t taken the time to look at the owner’s manuals that came with their car. I’ve set my key fob to just flash the lights, no annoying key fob beep.
I do, however, still enjoy using my key fob to flash the lights … just as you walk by ... lol
